– One of just two in University of Evansville baseball history to have his jersey retired – #6

– Was the head coach of the Purple Aces for 23 seasons, posting a winning campaign 16 times

– From 1983-85, he was a 3-time Heartland Conference Coach of the Year, winning the league title all three years

– Earned Mid-East Coach of the Year honors in 1988 as the squad went 44-20 and earned an NCAA Tournament win over top-ranked Arizona State

– Coached Andy Benes to NCAA Player of the Year honors before being selected by the San Diego Padres with the top pick in the 1988 MLB Draft

– Won a pair of Midwestern Collegiate Conference titles (1991 and 93); the 43 wins in 1993 were the second-most in program history

– Named Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2000 as he directed the Aces to a 41-22 mark and an NCAA Tournament bid
