Following an outstanding basketball career at Evansville Central High School, Bob Walker joined the Aces of Coach Arad McCutchan. He earned all-Indiana Collegiate Conference honors in 1955 and 1956, received the Kiwanis Award for athletic and academic achievement as a senior in 1956, and finished his career as one of the top 20 scorers in Evansville College history with 1,044 points. Walker currently ranks 39th on the Aces’ all-time scoring list. Following graduation, Walker embarked on a 39-year teaching and coaching career that included 34 years as a teacher and 22 years as a coach at Evansville North High School. In seven years as the Huskies’ varsity head coach (1977-78 through 1983-84) and 15 years as reserve team and assistant coach, Walker’s teams compiled a record of 296-141. He was an assistant coach on North’s 1967 state championship team, and was chosen as Evansville Coach of the Year in 1978, 1979 and 1980. A member of the Evansville North High School Hall of Fame, Walker in 2007 at age 73 played for the winning gold medal basketball team at the National Senior Olympics. Bob and his wife, Shiela, have three children–Mindy Walker, Cindy Davis and Kent Walker–and six grandchildren.
