Rory Hennings set Indiana Collegiate Conference and University of Evansville records in the 60-, 100-, 200- and 300-yard dashes, and set the Heartland Collegiate Conference 200-meter dash record of :21.5 in 1979. He was UE’s nominee in both 1978 and 1979 for the Tony Hinkle Award, presented annually to the Heartland Collegiate Conference’s most outstanding scholar-athlete. In football, Hennings led the ICC in kickoff return yardage as a junior and punt return yardage as a senior. He also set the school record for the longest pass reception–91 yards against Indiana Central in 1977. Hennings signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1979, and scored the winning touchdown for the Chiefs in a rookie/free agent pre-season game against the Houston Oilers. Hennings has been a marketing and banking executive for nearly three decades, and is currently with National City Mortgage in St. Louis. He is also active in the UE Alumni Association. Hennings resides in Florissant, Mo. with his wife, Nedra, and daughter, Tiffany. They also have a son, Rory.
