Hall of Fame

– One of the pioneers of University of Evansville athletics

– Worked at UE from 1930 until 1943, serving as the football coach, basketball coach and athletic director

– Honored with enshrinement into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 1979

– Evansville established the William V. Slyker Award, which is given annually to the most outstanding male student-athlete

– Following his work at UE, Slyker was a public defender for the Vanderburgh County City Court
