– Was the first Director of Athletics at what was then Evansville College

– Achieved success coaching all Purple Aces sports while bring basketball into the national spotlight

– Served the U.S. Army in Europe in World War I prior to his arrival at UE

– In 1932, he earned the first-ever doctoral degree in Health and Physical Education ever bestowed by Indiana University

– Went on to become the Director of Athletics at Boston University

– Appeared in “Who’s Who in America” in 1955
